The Finkelman cousins had the idea to take a Backroads trip to the Canadian Rockies in 2003. Laurie couldn’t make it but I got to go as a 50th birthday present. I spent a couple of days in Banff touring on my own and then the group covered Banff, Yoho and Jasper parks. The weather was smoky from forest fires when I arrived but a front passed though with rain and eventually September snowfall. The intrepid hikers cared not. Visually this place doesn’t quit. Good guides, top-shelf inns and food, and great company made it even better.
